– Nash to New York rumors have been “red hot” according to Chris Broussard, who was on ESPN Radio earlier today.  Talks are “heating up” according to Tommy Dee.

– There has been no news today on a possible Jonny Flynn trade, although it’s been rumored that the trade is certainly possible.

– There is buzz that the Knicks could trade up for Jimmer Fredette, although we know no details yet.  His visit to New York has fueled speculation.

Bismack Biyombo, who the Knicks were expected to be interested in, will probably be taken fifth overall by the Raptors.

Rumor: Jonny Flynn for Toney Douglas

Frank Isola of the Daily News says the Knicks are discussing a possible trade for Syracuse alumnus Jonny Flynn.

The Knicks have had preliminary discussions with the Minnesota Timberwolves about a trade for point guard Jonny Flynn.

No formal deal is in place, but the Knicks are debating whether Flynn, the sixth overall pick of the 2009 draft would be a viable option to back up Chauncey Billups for at least one season. Flynn has become expendable now that the Wolves have signed Spanish guard Ricky Rubio, who was taken one pick ahead of Flynn.

Douglas is a better pure shooter, but Flynn is a good backup point guard to sub-in for Chauncey Billups.  As I’ve said, Douglas isn’t a true point guard and is more of a shooting guard.  This would sure up the point guard spot for this season, but it would require the Knicks to go out and get another shooter.

If the Knicks were to make this trade, they can’t even think about taking a point guard in the draft.  I really like the idea of drafting Bismack Biyombo, or signing someone such as Tyson Chandler.
